Browsing and server logs
The web server may keep routine technical logs such as the requested page, time, browser information, referring page, and network address. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting, and basic service reliability, then should be removed on the operator’s documented retention schedule.
Correction reports
When you report a listing, we store the place, your selected reason, the details you provide, and an email address only if you choose to include one. The report record does not store your IP address. Optional email is used only to clarify or follow up on that report and should be deleted when no longer needed.
Cookies
Ordinary browsing does not require a marketing profile. The site stores your privacy choices in your browser so it can remember them. It may also set essential security cookies when a form, administrative sign-in, or protected session needs them. These support your choices, security, and site operation. Use “Privacy choices” in the footer whenever you want to change your decision.
Advertising and sponsors
Direct sponsors are clearly labeled and their campaign text is served by this site. We count direct-sponsor impressions and clicks only as daily totals; those records contain no visitor, browser, or network identifier. Clicking a sponsor link takes you to that sponsor’s website, where its own privacy practices apply. Advertica code loads only when the network is enabled and you allow third-party advertising. Advertica and participating advertisers may then receive browser and network information under their own policies. If you decline, the site shows a direct local sponsor or its own advertising message instead.
Analytics and outside websites
Google Analytics is available only after you allow analytics. Before that choice, analytics and advertising storage are set to denied and the Google Analytics tag is not requested. We configure analytics without Google Signals or advertising personalization. Official-place, map, source, sponsor, and advertiser links lead to outside websites that set their own terms and privacy practices.
Place photographs
A low-volume background job may request public image and license metadata from Wikimedia Commons or Wikidata. Those requests come from this server, not from your browser, and do not include visitor information. Accepted image files are stored locally so viewing a listing does not contact Wikimedia.
